while i sympathize with the brights, i wouldn't call myself one. simply because i don't want to be connected to any kind of organization.

Do You Consider Yourself a "Bright?"
by XJW4EVR ini have recently been exposed to this term, and i am currently doing research for a paper on this movement.
i am wondering if there are any on this board that would affirm this label for themselves.

"This system just cannot get any worse"
by JimmyPage inthat's what my dad has said at various times over many years.
i think it helps encourage him that the end must be very near and the paradise will be here soon.
my thought has always been "oh yes it can get a lot worse.

actually this system is getting better and better. there's no such thing as "the good old times". things like human rights, emancipation, equality of "race", freedom of speech and so on are only recent developments. the farther back you go in history, the worse it gets.
while there are still very bad things going on today, and very bad things might still be ahead, we are living in the best times ever. -

EMPTY KINGDOM HALL
by thebigdebate ini have heard from my father (who is an elder about 50 years old) that there is a great seperating work going on within the org.
he said that almost all of the people my age 25 to 35 have quit going to our hall (about 20 people).
i have not been to a meeting in about 1 year.

welcome!
it's been going down for years. i remember that we had to remove a few lines of seats, so the hall would not look all that empty.
i also know that many (i used to do that too) don't go into field service but turn in some 2-4 hours every month. -

Are you a "right-fighter"? Are most JW's? Are many xjw's?
by avishai inby dr. shawn byler .
do you find yourself struggling to "win" arguments?
do people ask you why you always have to be right?

i used to be, sometimes still am. and sometimes i am really right too
but there are a few things i learned: there are fights that can't be won. there are fights not worth fighting. and most importantly: discussions are not about winning or losing, but learning. -

Are you now involved in a different religion or structured group?
by feenx ini was browsing another post where wtwizard implied membership in another group, and was asked what it was.
that got me thinking...since coming out the society, has anyone embraced another organized religion or group, public or secret?
if so, what is it, and what made you join and continue membership?
-

i'm not religious, so no religious groups for me, thanks.
in addition to that i have some kind of organization-mania. i can't join any club, organization, team, whatever. i even have a hard time joining an online forum. hell, although i used to play in a few bands, i just am not up to form or join another one.
i think this is because i feel that any organization expects something from me and i can't and don't want to guarantee that i'd live up to the expectations, which might be as simple as showing up once a month. -

Do you hate elders and ex-elders?
by nvrgnbk indo you think they all ended up being elders because they were ambitious and loved to exercise authority over others?.
or do you realize that each elder has his own story and that some became elders under great pressure?.
do you really think that all of the elders enjoyed participating in judicial committees?.

as to hating elders: there are not many people i hate, if there are any. hate is not really part of my way of life. i feel disgusted by some people, incomfortable with some, thats pretty much as bad as it gets.
some (ex)elders are real 455H0135. but they would be such anyway, elder or not. it might be possible that 455H0135 are attracted to the elder job?
some (ex)elders are pretty nice. i've been very close to one for a long time. he's kinda smart, looking out of the WT closet, he agreed with most of the issues i critizised about the WT. it always puzzled me though, why he'd see all the problems with this cult, but keep working for them.
he's been pretty cool though, i once told him that i don't believe in any god. he didn't turn me in on that, rather we had an agreement of me not talking too much about that and him not telling his fellow elders. -

Do UFO's exist or is this another Cult?
by Witness 007 insome ufo evidence makes me laugh.
like the nasa out in space pictures which obviously show space junk floating in the atmosphere....cattle mutilations????
why would advanced beings repeatedly do this??
-
Superfine Apostate
i know of some watchtower's witnesses who supposedly saw UFOs and interpreted it as demon activity.
after some more questions, they admited to have been really drunk at the time.
